It's 20 days till Super League XXIII! Wearing the number 20 shirt this year is our new signing Adam Walne! After spending his career to date at Salford, Adam made the move to the Claret and Gold in the off-season, and we talked to him about his ambitions for his first season as a Giant!
Hi Adam. The team's 2 months into preseason now, how have things been going?
Things have been going well during preseason we have just got back from our army camp and that's been good for the squad, spending some quality time together as a group can only benefit us going forward into the new season.
Last year was an inconsistent one for the Giants, what are the club hoping to achieve in 2018?
We have spoken as a group about our goals for 2018 and we are quietly confident where we can go this year if we stick to the process, and have all agreed it's down to ourselves how far we go.
After spending five years at Salford, what made you decide to move, and what specifically attracted you to the Giants?
I came through the scholarship and academy system at Salford and then got into the first team so that's a fair old amount of time at the same club, and Salford tried very hard to extend my contract, but I was keen for a fresh challenge and wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone, so i saw who was interested and when I finally met up with the coaches at the Giants and got a feel for the place my mind was made up and I knew it was the right decision.
What are your personal goals going into the new season, and what are you looking to bring to the side?
My personal goals are simple, to play my best rugby for the Giants and week in week out keep improving.
If you had to sum up your expectations for our 2018 season in 3 words, what would you say?
